Prayer 280: God of miracles

Dear God

Thank You that the massive project we’ve been working on for months is now finally all but over. At least everything bar the shouting … It’s been tough – sometimes extremely tough – but thank You for being with us throughout all the difficulties and for finding solutions where we thought there was none. Thank You for being a God of miracles indeed!

Prayer 216: The shock of answered prayer

Dear God

I’m embarrassed to admit that I’m frankly astonished when You answer my prayers, as if even in the act of praying I don’t quite believe You’re out there and willing to listen. Well, thank You that You are there and that You are a God Who works miracles every day. Please give me a heart to trust You more deeply, and eyes to see Your marvellous miracles. Thank You.

Prayer 184: The God of creative solutions

Dear God

I have to say You do come up with some unusual solutions to our problems, and sometimes the answer to prayer is what we least expect to happen. Thank You for being such a creative God Who always pushes the boundaries of what we can imagine. Help me to have an expectant heart and a deeper understanding of the extraordinary heights and depths of Your love. Thank You.

Prayer 175: Live slowly

Dear God

I saw the slogan “Live slowly” on someone’s t-shirt today and it really spoke to me. So often, I live the exact opposite of slowly and so I miss all the blessings You shower upon me every day. I’m sorry about that. Help me instead to live slowly and to be on the look-out for your little miracles in my life. Thank You.

Prayer 174: Taking the long view

Dear God

Really, it’s astonishing how somehow You do manage to work everything out for the best in people’s lives, even if that working out doesn’t happen as speedily as we would ideally prefer. Help me to remember to take the long-term, rather than the short-term, view of life, and please could you work things out for me also. Thank You.

Prayer 147: It’s Wine O’clock Again

Dear God

Thank You for the deep satisfaction of a job well done – it’s an incredible feeling. Even though it meant I didn’t get back from work until 9.14pm last night. Heavens above! Still, at least I completed the task, and the incredible miracle is that there was a chilled glass of white wine in my hand by 9.14pm and 3 seconds, hurrah! Thank You for that.

Prayer 144: the God of hope

Dear God

Thank You that when we think all hope has gone, it’s exactly then that You work Your saving miracles. Help me to remember this during the bad days and to trust that You always save the best to last. Thank You.
